CITY ASSET MANAGEMENT PARTNERS WITH MONTESSORI ST NICHOLAS ON ITS CENTENARY CHILDREN’S GARDEN AT THE 2019 RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
Garden will celebrate Maria Montessori’s pioneering vision of education
Private wealth management firm, City Asset Management, today announces that is has partnered with the UK’s leading charity for Montessori education, Montessori St Nicholas to create a Space to Grow garden at the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Designed by award-winning landscape designer, Jody Lidgard, the garden marks 100 years since Maria Montessori first bought her pioneering teaching methods to the UK, and reflects the key principles that lie at the heart of her child-centric approach to education.
The collaboration marks the culmination of City Asset Management’s 30th anniversary celebrations. Founded by the late Viv Coghill in 1988, the business has grown organically, offering a bespoke investment management service that works with multiple generations of clients. In common with Montessori, City Asset Management takes a highly personal approach to the individuals with whom it works, helped in part by the strong emphasis on family ownership.
The Montessori Children’s Garden will have a significant ongoing social impact on young children and the wider early years community. The charity plans to relocate the garden to benefit the wider community and to enable children from all walks of life to enjoy and experience the cutting garden and edible walls as well as the hydroponic technology. Montessori students will be encouraged to care for and maintain the garden for future generations of children. The wider Montessori and early years communities will benefit by having on-line access to tools that will help them to recreate the many innovative features introduced in the Centenary Children’s Garden.
Nicholas Coghill, CEO, City Asset Management said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Montessori St Nicholas garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Family is at the heart of everything we do and we understand the importance of investing in the education and success of our future generations. City Asset Management works with clients on a long term basis providing a personal, tailored service. In doing so, we understand the family dynamics and work to deliver long term returns that will benefit them for years to come. We hope that this will be the start of a long term partnership with Montessori St Nicholas and that we will be able to support them on an ongoing basis in their mission to deliver quality early years education to children across the UK.”
Leonor Stjepic, Chief Executive Officer of Montessori St Nicholas said: “We are thrilled that City Asset Management is supporting this ambitious project as part of our centenary celebrations. The aim of the garden is to bring to life Maria Montessori’s concept of a child-first education and to illustrate the multi-sensory nature of a Montessori classroom. We firmly believe that a Montessori education has benefits for children of all backgrounds and abilities and as a charity we are working to educate parents about these benefits and to reach as many children as possible. City Asset Management shares our values of investing in, nurturing and supporting the development of future generations.”
This is the first time that established horticulturist and educator, Jody Lidgard, has designed a garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The garden design incorporates two greenhouses featuring cutting edge hydroponic technology where children can grow micro vegetables and leaves, cutting gardens and edible living walls where they can see their plants mature and pick them to bring inside for eating, and a shady, interactive teaching wall. The design offers an engaging space to nurture children, teach them about the natural world and allow them to explore horticulture in their own way
The Montessori Centenary Childrens’ Garden supported by City Asset Management can be seen at the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Royal Hospital from 21 – 25 May 2019.
