Important Information and Risk Warnings

Past performance is not a guide for future performance. The value of your investment can fall and you may not get back the amount invested.

Different investments have varying levels of risk and present a variety of different risks to you. Whilst we cannot disclose every risk that may arise to you on this website, we aim to ensure that all our clients fully understand the risks of the specific investments and services that we provide to them. Good communication is a key part of delivering our service to you and we encourage you to ask any questions that you have at any stage of the process, be it during our first meeting or after we have had a 20-year relationship with you.

We strongly advise you never to make any investment or deal in any financial product unless you fully understand all aspects of it, particularly the potential risks. Our services will not be suitable for all investors and the input of a qualified financial adviser is essential. Please do not take any aspect of this website as a personal recommendation or an invitation to invest in a particular product or service. When we describe the performance of particular services, it is important to remember that past performance is not a guide for future performance and the value of your investment may fall, and you may not get back the amount invested.

In the current economic environment, it has never been more important to have a long-term view of investments. Our proposals are generally for clients who are able to commit to seven or more years and you should consider other opportunities if you would require access to your capital in a shorter time horizon. We encourage you to consider this carefully with your financial adviser.

Some documents and areas of this website may include forward-looking statements that are based upon our current opinions, expectations, and projections. Investment markets and conditions change rapidly.  Please do not take our views as statements of fact and be aware that these opinions will evolve over time. We cannot take responsibility for updating or revising any forward-looking statements in reports. The actual results that you receive from any service could differ materially from those anticipated. This may be due to many factors, including market conditions, difference in the timing of initial investments or rebalancing and minimum transaction sizes.

In some cases, investments may create currency risk for certain investors. Changes in exchange rates may have an adverse effect on the value, price or income of foreign currency denominated securities. All cash balances held at CAM will be in pounds sterling, but clients may request that we transfer cash to them in other currency, recognising the exchange risk that this may present.

Investments may be subject to issues when we sell a holding caused by a variety of factors such as market conditions, restrictions placed on a fund by its manager or the insolvency of the investment. In these circumstances, it may take longer than expected to sell investments in these circumstances and the value of your holding may fluctuate during this period. We do, however, always retain our obligations relating to Best Execution.

Risk Profiling

For joint discretionary portfolios or where more than 1 individual portfolio being managed on a discretionary basis on the same Risk Profile, we will manage the Risk Profile at the overall client level. This means that holdings within individual portfolios may differ, and performance may accordingly vary. However, to enable us to deliver good customer outcomes, the overall performance of the combined individual portfolios will be managed in the line with the Risk Profile agreed with our clients.

Nature of Advice

For the purposes of the Retail Distribution Review (‘RDR’) in providing the Service, CAM provides Restricted Advice. This is because, in some circumstances, we may only advise you to use our own in-house investment management service.

No CAM employee is qualified to provide legal or accounting advice or to prepare any documents requiring legal or accountancy expertise. You accept responsibility for involving a qualified solicitor or accountant in providing any advice that raises legal or accounting issues during the provision of our service to you.

Use of Logos and Data

We will always detail the source for any charts or performance data in documents. Sometimes, we are legally obliged to deliver certain risk disclaimers to you by those who have provided information to us, such as FTSE International Limited and MSCI. We won’t show performance data to you for any service with a track record of less than 12 months.

 Tax

The levels, bases, and reliefs from taxation available to you and our services are continually changing. Please discuss your financial position with a financial adviser before making any investment to understand the potential tax implications for you. However, do be aware that these may well change during your investment horizon, and it is important to continue to share information with your adviser. In some circumstances, it may also be appropriate for you to seek the advice of a qualified accountant.

It is important to mention that the FCA does not regulate tax advice, trusts or offshore investments.

AIM

Due to the nature of its investment in illiquid and volatile shares, our AIM service creates high levels of equity risk and is not suitable for many investors. There are many risks specific to the service that you should fully understand before investing in it and it is essential that you have the involvement of a financial adviser.
