Helping Your Clients Prevent and Report Fraud

Stop Scams UK, a financial industry action group, has launched the use of a single telephone number to call retail banks if your client is worried about fraud.

The 159 number can be used to report potential fraud or if they are concerned about a telephone call or message that they have had that purport to be from their bank. The major UK banking providers have all signed up to the initiative so if they do have any concerns about a contact or request for personal data, they should hang up the line or don’t reply to the text – and call 159 instead to be sure that they are accessing a legitimate member of their banking team.
