Our AIM Portfolio Service
Our Alternative Investment Market (AIM) Inheritance Tax service was launched in 2004 to help your clients take advantage of the generous tax breaks available to small businesses that qualify for Business Relief.
AIM investments carry a higher level of investment risk than other equities and therefore this service is only suitable for clients who can invest a minimum of £100,000 and are willing to accept higher risks.
Why City Asset Management AIM?
The investment objective of the AIM Portfolio is to outperform the FTSE AIM All Share (TR) Index and provide a real return over a rolling seven-year period. The AIM IHT service offers capital growth potential via a discretionary managed portfolio of shares that we believe will qualify for Business Relief (BR) at the time of purchase and so should be free of inheritance tax after only two years, provided they are owned at the date of death until April 2026.
After 2026 you will still benefit from 50% IHT relief from AIM listed shares, so IHT is payable at 20% rather than the full 40%.
Business Relief
Our AIM service offers the opportunity to invest in a managed portfolio that we believe will qualify for Business Relief.
A Well-Considered Investment Approach
We think like business owners, not traders, and are long term investors
We look for profitable businesses and do not invest in loss making / early stage / blue sky companies
We focus on businesses we understand and try to comprehend a company’s earning power rather than its current share price
We aim to pay a sensible price, focusing on valuation so as to build a margin of safety within each holding
Our approach allows us to keep portfolio turnover and, in turn, costs low.
Growth Potential
AIM is the London Stock Exchange’s market for smaller, growing companies across a broad range of sectors. AIM stocks give clients who are willing to accept the risks a strong opportunity for growth and dividends.
