Concerned About Email Security? Prevention is Better Than Cure, So Try YourCAM
Since launching our new portal in 2024, an increasing number of you have been using YourCAM to view valuations and performance data and access regular information about your portfolio holdings. Improvements to the functionality of the portal are continually in development and we welcome your feedback. Ben Hopkins has been a key member of the rollout team and comments ‘Clients are seeing a real benefit from moving to YourCAM, with a clearer layout of information and more detailed content. On a more worrying technology development, many of us have experienced issues with email security; whether receiving strange emails from friends ‘with laryngitis’ or worrying about clicking on suspect links. Unfortunately, we need to regularly take precautions to help clients whose email accounts are hacked and we have a robust procedure to assist. If you do have any concerns, please contact us for reassurance.
The old cliché that prevention is better than cure certainly applies to email security. We have written in previous newsletters about always having complex passwords and never using email addresses again once they have been compromised. We also wanted to let you know about the secure messaging function in YourCAM. This allows you to contact your usual CAM team, members of Client Services, Financial Planning and Investment Management, to send sensitive personal data to us. This could include copies of bank statements, wills, proof of address or passports. Similarly, we can provide confidential information to you via this fully encrypted portal. As Ben reminded us, ‘Secure Messaging is very simple to use and removes all the worry that you might have when sending private documents in the post or via email.
