Welcome to our first newsletter!

This quarter, we lead with a piece on inflation, a topic that we know has been on most people's minds of late. While most experts are describing the recent uptick as 'transitory', we wanted to provide some colour as to why we're seeing a sudden increase in prices and why that matters to you.

And if, like me, you ever wondered why the UK tax year starts in April rather than January, you might find our piece on Redrawing the Tax Year interesting. While any real reduction in the complexities of our tax system are unlikely to be imminent, it's a useful reminder of some upcoming important income tax filing deadlines!

We also cover the lifetime pension allowance, the 7th September 'non-budget' and we look ahead to the 27th October 'real budget' - please feel free to share any relevant content with your friends and family if you think it will be of interest to them.

While there's no substitute for one-to-one advice, we hope the news and insights we've selected to share are useful and help you organise your finances.

Final thought…

The investment industry generally tries to convince you that the best thing you can ever do is to hire someone to help you beat a benchmark. But this has nothing to do with meeting your financial goals!

So stop worrying about beating a benchmark and instead focus on meeting the goals that are important to you.
