Arrived at La Gomera

CAM are proud to sponsor Team Anna Victorious, the team aims to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Victoria's Promise so they can continue to support and empower young women, and their families, through cancer and beyond. You can follow their journey here.

We made it here to the start at La Gomera and have completed the inspections and packed the boat. Emma, our boat, now sits in a line with other boats in the marina. The race is a significant event for San Sebastian and the island, and Atlantic Campaign’s branding now dominates the streets. Stepping off the ferry we were struck that we were walking in the footsteps of those inspirational people who, before us, had done their crossing and in a few short weeks we would be including ourselves in amongst a small group of select people to complete the challenge.

Meeting the other crews was often overwhelming when we have all stories as compelling as each other as to why we are here. The feeling of shared endeavour is palpable with teams mucking in with one another's boats and there is a constant market in the swaps of kit, supplies and food.

We are particularly honoured to have been selected for the One for the Sea ambassadors in partnership with Talisker and a charity called Parley. Along with the crews of Migalu and Foar From Home, we are hoping to share our love for the ocean and raise awareness and money for Parley, whose mission is to defend biodiversity, reduce ocean plastics and preserve 100 million square metres of ocean forest. Time on the island seems to have lost all normal concepts and we are just counting down the days until we start the race. Thank you for your all your support.
